"The SEACAM bayonet – why?"
With the robust SEACAM bayonet thread there is no canting of the port or twisting of the O-ring as it frequently is the case with conventional delicate bayonet connections. The SEACAM RD connection has a 360° cover – conventional bayonet connections merely have a 30°-45° cover. It thus does not happen seldomly that a port gets lost unintentionally. With conventional bayonets the user needs to press the securing O-ring quite forcefully into the connection. With the SEACAM RD bayonet the O-ring is pulled into the correct position smoothly by the thread and positioned precisely by a stopping mechanism. All SEACAM ports have a double O-ring sealing for double security.
